The artist I talked to was Joshua Vasquez, he currently goes to CSULB, but he is from downtown LA. He started creating art works since he was a child.
Today’s artist’s exhibition is called Vida / Morte which is translated to “Life and Death”. Joshua’s artworks are mostly made by black and white, his inspiration comes from life and death. He used a lots of flowers and skulls to express these two ideas in his artwork, but he hopes that he can explore a deeper meaning with these symbols such like hard and soft, femininity and masculinity.
I really like Joshua’s style of drawing. Joshua used only black and white, it makes the artwork more clear and simple, I can easily understand the meaning of the art. It also meets the theme of the exhibition- “Life and Death”.
